"These are all acrylic, watercolor, and pastel paintings. Many artist say that painting is a stress reliever and that after painting for hours, it feels as though the artwork is painting itself. I feel the opposite. For me, painting a picture is more like wrestling. I'm constantly trying to force the painting to do what I want it to, which often leaves me mentally exhausted. I find that I'm only able to work on a painting about 1 or 2 hours at a time before I'm needing to take a break. This is probably due to my realistic/detail oriented style, which can be quite tedious. I'm slowly beginning to let go of the smaller details in my work and focus more on the light, color and composition in my pieces."
