Capturing that perfect sunrise requires persistence and luck. This was my fourth visit to the Dallas Divide area near Ridgway, Colorado. On previous mornings, the weather was not cooperating. This morning was no different as clouds covered the peak during sunrise. The day before I scoped out a spot with a view of the peak that had beautiful crossing hillsides full of colorful fall aspen trees. in the foreground. I was afraid that I had missed my photo opportunity, but I waited at this spot near the Last Dollar Road for almost an hour and a half until the clouds briefly lifted revealing an absolutely stunning view of this San Juan beauty, Unnamed or "S9" Peak!
Photography is like fishing. It's all about location, location, location. Some days you get skunked, others you catch the big one. This was one of the latter occasions, and it payed off!
