This photo of Colorado 14er Capitol Peak was taken near the end of September near the peak aspen color changing time. The sun danced behind the clouds creating some very unique coloring in this image. The aspens in the foreground are on fire while the top of the mountain is only barely being touched by the sun rays.
Capitol Creek 4 wheel drive road is located just north of the city of Aspen, Colorado where this breathtaking view can be whitnessed. Capitol Peak is considered by many to be the most challenging and difficult 14er to climb particularly, its infamous knife edge with sheer drops on both sides. No peak climbing during this trip. Maybe I'll return sometime.
