Description
Colorado 14ers Crestone Needle and Crestone Peak - Mountain photography by Aaron Spong
This stunning view of the Crestones was taken on a windy and cold morning during an early April hike/snowshoe to the summit of Marble Mountain in the Sangre de Cristo Range of Southern Colorado. "Sangre de Cristo" means "Blood of Christ" in spanish. Kit Carson Peak can be seen on the right.
Alpenglow touches the eastern face of the peaks while the clouds peaked out behind the peaks just in time for the early morning sun to light them up with pastel pink hues! We climbed to this location above 12,000 ft. in the full moon light to see if we could get a unique angle on two of my favorite 14ers. We were very blessed to have such a spectacular sunrise rewarding our efforts!
