Description
Home to the National Opera of Bordeaux, the Grand Theatre de Bordeaux was designed by French architect Victor Louis and was opened to the public in the year 1780. This impressive building has a neo-classical style facade and 12 Corinthian style columns reaching skyward to meet 12 statues representing muses and goddesses of the ancient world. The structure is located on Place de la Comedie, a busy, city centre thoroughfare for trams and pedestrians, and a popular meeting place for locals and visitors. In the distance, rising from The Place des Quinconces, the Column of the Girondins, with a staute of liberty breaking its chains on top, can be seen. I blended a little texture with my original photograph to compliment the historic feel of this old world French street scene.
